30 Indo-Pacific bottlenose dolphins in the Solomon Islands were captured illegally. IMMP, a nonprofit that works to save dolphins and whales, believes they were going to be exported to China to live in captivity. The Solomon Islands Fisheries Ministry took action and released these dolphins back into the ocean, thankfully. Action from the government like this can really help prevent the illegal shipment of marine mammals around the world. The IMMP will remain cautious to any sort of dolphin capture and illegal trade.
