In our world today, there are numerous factors that pose threats to the lives of marine mammals. Scientists are currently trying to formulate a better way to observe the effects of humans and analyze what combination of factors is the most harmful toward marine mammal populations. The model they developed allows them to analyze isolated effects, such as pollution, climate change, or prey depletion, in the context of the cumulative effect of their entire environment. They plan to analyze the effects of these factors by observing the health of individual species of mammals in response to specific activities. Hopefully, the new methods they are developing will allow us to gain a greater insight into the most harmful human effects for certain populations so that we may increase our efforts to reduce these harmful activities.
